Community Survey Feedback (Copy)

Our Community Public Safety Survey was issued in late 2024 to gather input on Bloomfield concerns about crime and effective community resources.

Overall, neighbors were concerned about open drug use and illicit sales, but with a vast majority looking for rehabilitative rather than criminal responses. Additionally, most neighbors surveyed were open to sharps disposals as a way to address public safety risk from abandoned needles.

The second highest priority was “porch pirating” or mail and package theft. By working Zone 5 police and other stakeholders, we’ve been able to share resources with the neighborhood. This includes the 3-1-1 form for non-emergency, non-criminal complaints; and direct uploading to police of home security footage. For police to be able to take action, it is important that those who choose to provide evidence also supply contact information for follow up.

Lastly, neighbors expressed concern for nuisance properties in the area, which may be addressed by rehabilitation or conservatorship.
